What is Music Mai-Lantarki?

Music Mai-Lantarki is a type of music from the Tamil culture, originating in South India. It is a blend of Carnatic music with modern beats and rhythms. The name literally translates to “Singing of Five Lamps”, referring to the five main instruments used in this style of music: the mridangam (drum), thavil (percussion), veena (string instrument), vina (fretless lute) and kanjira (small hand drum). This unique combination of instruments creates a vibrant and powerful sound.
